Silk Road sets a new precedent in the global bar scene, drawing influences from every corner of the historic Silk Road. Located in the heritage-listed home of John Pascoe Fawkner's Shakespeare Hotel, the building is a vital part of Melbourne's rich history. Home to both the city's co-founder and the first Melbourne Newspaper in 1838, this building has seen many faces of Melbourne and now begins a new chapter.

Silk Road offers 8 unique bars and 1 kitchen across 3 floors. Catering for all occasions, ranging from small intimate parties to large gala events, Silk Road is the ideal entertaining venue.

Silk Road tells the story of the historic trade route which linked traders, merchants, pilgrims and travellers through regions of the Asian continent connected East and West Asia to the Mediterranean sea. The most famous traveller of this route was Marco Polo, whose towering representation presides over our main bar, the Venetian Bar.

This story is told through the design of the venue, a fusion of east meets west, and through our food and beverages, all of which come from various destinations along this path.
