While many best friend relationships remain purely plutonic with no romantic feelings for one another, when you're so close to someone of the opposite sex, it's sometimes possible for one or both people to develop more-than-just-friends feelings for one another over time. Is a relationship with your best friend a good idea? This really depends on you and your best friend. Some friendships that form into relationships flourish well, while others don't. Remember that you'll be seeing each other in a different way and perhaps even more regularly than you have already. The way you relate to one another could change. Also consider what would happen if your relationship doesn't work out. Could you both go back to being best friends or would you lose both a relationship and a friendship? Should you tell your best friend, and how?Deciding whether to tell your best friend how you feel and the way in which you tell them can seem daunting. You know them best so you might already have a good understanding how they'll respond. Is there a chance they could react differently to what you expect? Could it affect your friendship if you tell them how you feel but they don't feel the same way about you? You could try dropping hints and see how they react. Perhaps you already suspect your friend might also have developed similar feelings about you? If you do choose to tell them how you feel, have a fallback if your best friend doesn't take it well. If you tell your best friend how you feel, and they respond positively, you'll quite possibly be heading towards one of the most wonderful relationships you've ever experienced.
